Sim Racing Tech Tip #1: Getail Design Hub

Here at Rocky Sim Racing, we are always on the lookout for how to improve our development racing simulator so that we can recommend great products to our customers as we build their dream simulators. The latest project came with 4 objectives:

• Increase space to get in and out of the racing simulator - allowing for taller drivers to enter and exit easily.

• Increase the space available for the accessories on the right side of the racing simulator like a stream deck, shifter, and handbrake.

• Increase the FOV angle to achieve a more accurate seating position in the virtual world like iRacing, Assetto Corsa, or RennSport.

• The product used must be readily available and be of top quality with good value.

After looking around at the options, we reached out to Getail Design in Italy and asked if they would like to partner with us on this project. They said yes and we agreed that their G1 Hub in Black and 173MM would fit the requirements. We installed the G1 Hub and started to make the adjustments on the racing simulator but also in the sim racing games. Specifically starting with iRacing, we gained over 40+ degrees of FOV and allowed the monitors to be positioned at what I would call a “near perfect” distance to minimize distortion and maximize the triple 32” Samsung screens we have wrapping the simulator.

All in all - the Getail Design G1 hub allowed us to really maximize on the objectives set out above and we even have a D-Box motion system on our simulator and this hub provides way precise hardware setup. The extra space for the accessories and ease of access to the stream deck became a huge benefit but the biggest benefit was the ability for a 6ft+ driver to get in and out of the simulator with relative ease.

This has been one product that changed the entire simulator top to bottom and could not recommend this upgrade enough.
